Living

The spacious, sunny living room is big enough for multiple furniture arrangements and styles. Finally, you can have both the Victorian sofa and the contemporary leather armchairs. If you’re so inclined, the room is wired for surround sound. The picture window frames a placid view of the naturalistic hillside, with blackberry bushes, craggy granite faces, all sorts of plantings. Look close and you’ll see the original hitching post; good potential for reconversion to carriage house.

In another corner of the living room is this stunning custom rough-hewn granite mantel, keeping your baubles and photos safe from the crackling wood-burning fire below. When the embers die down, a top-sealing damper and tempered glass keep the draft out. If you prefer convenience over charcoal, a gas line’s already been run. The floor-to-ceiling surround is made of the same century-old Veedersburg bricks we used on the outside. Read the story!
